6th Edition of Very ‘Eavy Metal Festival Brings in Bigger Acts

UJRThe sixth edition of the heavy metal festival Very ‘Eavy will take place on Friday the 22nd and Saturday the 23rd of April, 2016 in “Fox” in Stadskanaal, Netherlands. For this edition, only 500 tickets are available and in the first three weeks of pre-sales as many as 135 tickets have already been sold!

“The previous location was big enough for 650 visitors, and the last edition was sold out. But we – the promoters – and the manager of “The Spont” could not agree on certain things. I wanted to maintain the quality of the festival – luckily we found a beautiful new location in Stadskanaal. In terms of capacity, “Fox” might be slightly smaller, but the space and customer-friendly layout makes it a prime location for bands and audience” – says the festival’s organizer, Hugo Koch.
The youngsters from Jerkbait will be the first to enter the stage. The band won the “Very ‘Eavy Poll” and is therefore programmed as opener. Next is Rebel Star with their melodic and straightforward hard rock sound which may remind you of bands like KISS and Van Halen.

Distillator is one of the most promising contemporary Thrash Metal acts, a treat for fans of Slayer or Kreator.

The evening will be closed by the most famous heavy metal act of Netherlands – Picture. The band played Very ‘Eavy in 2014 and made a crushing impression then.

ULI JON ROTH AND THE RODS
“If you go for a new location, the programming must be even more spectacular than it was with the previous edition”, says Hugo Koch. Due to this, he booked a headliner of great significance.

On Saturday, however, the British New Wave of British Heavy Metal band Soldier will open the festival with some good ol’ traditional heavy metal. Never before have they played in the Netherlands.

The Polish Hard Rock/Heavy Metal band CETI is well-known in their own country for more than 25 years. They are very eager to play for the first time on Dutch soil.

Speed Metal band Damien Thorne has also never played in our little country before. These guys will make sure that our visitors will bang their heads again vigorously.

Every year there is at least one German band at the festival. This year it will be Paragon, with their bombastic Metal sound which will make you think of Manowar.

Tytan from England is one of the most underrated ‘80s bands. It stands, however, for very high quality and they can hardly wait for everyone in Stadskanaal to see and hear what they have to offer.
The legendary Dutch band Vandale sings in our native language and this evening they will play a special set with almost all classics of their first two albums.

The co-headliner on Saturday evening are The Rods from America. Still the original line-up, the band plays since the ‘80s and is known as one of the best live acts in the world.

With headliner Uli Jon Roth, a dream comes true for the organizer Hugo Koch. From 1973 to 1978, Roth played in the world famous band Scorpions and is seen as one of the best guitarists in the world. This evening he will play a special two-hour set consisting of many classics from the Scorpions.
