Ritchie Blackmore - The Ritchie Blackmore Story 350The Ritchie Blackmore Story is comprehensive documentary which focuses on the life and music career of legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore.

Released by Eagle Rock Entertainment, the documentary is being released on DVD and Blu-ray, as well as a deluxe edition that also features The Ritchie Blackmore Story, the DVD of “Live In Tokyo,” 2CDs of “Live In Tokyo” … contained in a 60 page 12” x 12” hardback photobook with a black and silver front cover.

“Live In Tokyo” is the first official DVD & CD release of the 1984 concert by Rainbow from Tokyo’s famous Budokan. Rainbow’s lineup at the time featured bassist Roger Glover, vocalist Joe Lynn Turner, keyboardist David Rosenthal and drummer Chuck Burgi.

The Ritchie Blackmore Story provides an in depth look into the man, delving all the way back to the beginning of his career with The Outlaws and his studio sessions in the ‘60s. Blackmore covers his Deep Purple years on through to Rainbow, returning to Deep Purple, back to Rainbow and finally Blackmore’s Night.

There are interviews with Blackmore’s peers including Brian May, Glenn Hughes, Lars Ulrich, Steve Lukather, Joe Satriani, the late Jon Lord, David Coverdale, Gene Simmons, Joe Lynn Turner, Steve Vai, Graham Bonnet and Ian Anderson. The bonus features on this release adds an additional 40 minutes of interviews with Blackmore and his peers.

The Ritchie Blackmore Story provides great insight into Blackmore’s personality. Blackmore offers his take on his storied musical career. Blackmore grew up within the same village Jimmy Page, with Eric Clapton several miles away and Jeff Beck in another area but all close to the same age. It’s amazing that these future legendary guitarists, innovators and pioneers of the instrument grew up so close together.
