The Encyclopedia of KISS offers readers 236 pages of KISS factoids, which, in one way or another, are relevant to KISS. According to Weiss, the book is a “… comprehensive reference guide to virtually everything in the KISS universe, featuring detailed information on the band’s songs, albums, games, toys, tours, television and movie appearances, family members, girlfriends, collectibles, comic books, solo work and much more, including replacement members Eric Carr, Vinnie Vincent, Bruce Kulick, Mark St. John, Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer.”

The Encyclopedia of KISS builds upon the legendary exploits over the course of the band’s 40-year career, which is highlighted by its induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, selling more than 100 million albums, having more gold records than any other American band and influencing many bands and artists that followed in their footsteps. The book provides readers with an alphabetized list of people, bands, songs, topics, etc., that are related to KISS or former members, along with detailed information that relates to each listing.

From the band’s original incarnation of the group comprising Ace “Spaceman” Frehley, Gene “Demon” Simmons, Paul “Starchild” Stanley and Peter “Catman” Criss to the current lineup with Simmons and Stanley alongside Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer, the comprehensive encyclopedia hits upon the known and possibly unknown “KISS” facts.

The Encyclopedia of KISS is a soft-covered book approximately 7 inches by 9 inches, featuring black-and-white photos of band merchandise, fanzines and magazines. Along with the A to Z listings, an index is included at the back of the book to expedite looking up topics. Its real value is that it is a concisely packaged resource for KISS knowledge in a compact book format.
