In Concert: Caligula’s Horse

Aussies sure do know how to have a good time, but when there’s not only one, but three strong Australian Progressive bands (#allaussieinvasion) on one bill, we sure are up for some fun.

The night started with the instrumental trio I Built The Sky taking the stage. What once started as a solo bedroom project of Progressive Metal guitarist Ro Han, has grown into a touring band with members Sam Tan on bass and Rob Brens on drums. At the beginning of 2018 the trio was supporting the sold-out Twelve Foot Ninja’s Melbourne show and now at the end of the year were heading direction Europe with Caligula’s Horse. Ro did spend quite some time maneuvering between crowd while playing some intricate tunes and did even initiate a “high-five wall of death.”

Next to hit the stage was Melbournian quartet Circles, a band that most likely has slipped even many prog fans ears. With re-vamped line-up, the group has brought out their latest album “The Last One” in summer 2018 via Season Of Mist.

Straight from delivering a fantastic performance just the night before to a packed room at the Damnation Festival, Caligula’s Horse tonight ended up on a tiny stage with barely any light and a small, but passionate supporter crowd. Being for a month on the road with over twenty performances and at the time with only two more dates left of their European tour, the band was sure looking forward to going back home, but we still got an amazing show.
