What started as a local one-day music event in 2004 in a small Norwegian town of Kopervik, has grown today into a reputable annual 3-day festival featuring loads of international bands and a variety of Metal genres to cater everyone’s musical taste.
Celebrated 15 years of its existence in 2018, Karmøygeddon Metal Festival with a full line up and stage times announced is ready for its 16th edition. It will be held on 02.-04.05.2019 in Kopervik, at the island of Karmøy on the southwest coast of Norway.
In previous years the festival has been headlined by Kreator, Helloween, Saxon, Enslaved, Amorphis among others. This year Finnish heavy metal band Wintersun will be Friday’s headliners and do a special Anniversary show to mark 15 years since their debut album’s release.
On Saturday headlining duty will go to no others than the legendary Symphonic Metal band, Norwegians Dimmu Borgir, which did release in May 2018 their latest album Eonian.
Karmøygeddon Metal Festival will be opened on Thursday by a local Thrash metal band- Shakma from nearby Haugesund. First main festival day will be having some great names on the bill: amongst others Swedish Heavy Metal band Tribulation, German Attic and a rare live performance from Norwegian Melodic Black Metal band Galar. I will be very excited to see Cradle Of Filth returning to play this great festival.
Saturday’s bill just can’t get any better: there will be one of the Faroese most successful Metal exports, Folk Metal quartet Týr, German Power metallers Orden Organ; band, that has put the small country of Andorra on the world map of Metal- Prog Metal band Persefone; Swedish Power/Thrash outfit Morgana Lefay and many more.
Polish Death Metal masters Decapitated will be embarking “Killing The European Cult” tour in early 2019 with Karmøygeddon Metal Festival being part of it. Adding some more Polish names to the list, there also will be Death Metal quartet Vader and Blackened Death metallers Hate.
