Fans of Nevermore and Matt Barlow era Iced Earth can rejoice in the news that Ashes of Ares, the new supergroup made up of Barlow, ex-Iced Earth bassist Freddie Vidales, and former Nevermore drummer Van Williams, will be releasing their eponymous debut album on September 17th via Nuclear Blast.<\/p>\n

Barlow took some time out of his busy schedule of being both a police officer and a metal legend to speak with Hardrock Haven about why now was the right time to return to the metal scene, what really prompted him to leave Iced Earth in 2003 and again in 2011, and how Ashes of Ares allows him to finally find his creative voice after almost two decades in the industry:<\/p>\n
