Not a keyboard or ballad to be heard as this Swedish leather-wearing quintet blasts through 10 songs non-stop, never allowing the listener to catch his breath.

Released on the Black Lodge Records label, the production is really well done, as rhythmic guitar riffs lay on a headbanging stance while at the same time a guitar solo rips its way through the melody. While the music is uncomplicated, never venturing far from old school Metal, the attitude that band has worked hard to maintain and offer comes through loud and clear. Chord structures and how each song builds on a simple foundation of guitar and drums as the screaming vocals give these songs an unmistakable get-up-and-go.

Remember that as you listen to the opening track, the Accept-inspired “Killer Machine,” the drums of “Tear Down the Wall,” the twin guitar attack of the love motivated “Queen of Destruction,” the monster riffs of the CD highlight “Lights Out,” and the in-your-face velocity of “Electrical Shock.” And how can one not want to hear a song called “Alligator Fuck House?” This song’s nasty, spiteful backwoods vigor will make you and your friend’s head for the nearest bar where you practice cracking bar bottles over each other’s heads. True old school Metal is all over “Bad to the Bone,” and closing this great collection of songs is “On The Road.”

The songs of this one will stay with you long after the CD’s playing time is over. And it is that which makes this an album you’re gonna want to hear. Sure the songs are simple, thunderous and high speed. The boys of Devil’s Gun have taken an active role in writing songs that grab your attention and refuse to let go – and thank God for that. Gather your friends, crack open the beer, do some serious neck stretching exercises ’cause tomorrow your neck is going to be sore as hell from the headbanging that is about to come. Now if we could only get American radio to pull their heads out of their ass and give Devil’s Gun some airtime – yeah, right. But the hell with radio for they – and they always will – continue to show their incompetence and lack of trying to support great bands like Devil’s Gun. But buy this, gather your friends together, and prepare for a frenzy of Metal that never gets old.

Genre: Heavy Metal

Band Members

Joakim Hermansson – vocals
Fredrik Johansson – drums
Oliver Amanuelsson – bass
Philip Nilsson – guitar
Emil Holmstrom – guitar

Track Listing:

Killer Machine
Tear Down the Wall
To The Devil
Lights Out
Sing For the Chaos
Electrical Shock
Queen of Destruction
Alligator Fuck House
Bad to the Bone
On The Road

Label: Black Lodge Records

Band Website: www.facebook.com/devilsgunswe

Hardrock Haven rating: [usr 8.5 size=20]

by Franco Cerchiari — Sr. Writer — Somewhere between the “I don’t give a shit” Heavy Metal of Sin City, The Order, Whiskey Hell, and Black Aces, the old school vibe of Accept, Motorhead, and […]

[8
12239,14918,14922,14920,14921,14919
0":"post-66115","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-music-reviews","8":"tag-black-lodge-records","9":"tag-devils-gun","10":"tag-emil-holmstrom","11":"tag-joakim-hermansson","12":"tag-philip-nilsson","13":"tag-sing-for-the-chaos
["GET
