Guidotti<\/strong>\u00a0(bass),\u00a0<strong>Heavens Edge<\/strong>\u00a0immediately began performing on the local club circuit and surrounding areas. Gigging at well-known venues in the rock and metal scene in Philly such as The Empire Rock Club, The Galaxy, and The Trocadero, with nearby prestigious venues Hammerjacks (Baltimore, MD) and the 9:30 Club (Washington, D.C.) becoming regular stops for the group, the band began smashing attendance records and rapidly gaining the attention of local press and radio. The European press started to take note as well, with\u00a0<strong>Metal Forces Magazine<\/strong>\u00a0publishing features on the band\u2019s building notoriety and Japan&#8217;s world famous\u00a0<strong>Burrn! Magazine<\/strong>\u00a0giving them significant coverage as well.\u00a0<br \/><br \/>While the 80\u2019s metal scene was in full swing, the greater Philadelphia, PA\/New Jersey region had already produced mega-acts such as Bon Jovi, Cinderella, Skid Row, and Britny Fox\u00a0and labels were on the hunt for exactly what\u00a0<strong>Heavens Edge<\/strong>\u00a0was delivering. In a flurry of label activity from all the major players in the rock world,\u00a0<strong>Heavens Edge<\/strong>\u00a0secured a recording agreement with\u00a0<strong>Columbia Records<\/strong>. Unfortunately, soon after the band was signed, a crazed gunman entered a club the band was playing in and randomly opened fire, striking bass player\u00a0<strong>George G.G. Guidotti<\/strong>.\u00a0<strong>G.G.<\/strong>\u00a0was hospitalized and required months of rehabilitation to get back into playing shape. All of this delayed the commencement of the album recording for months and slowed the band&#8217;s momentum.<br \/><br \/>With\u00a0<strong>G.G.<\/strong>\u00a0on the mend,\u00a0<strong>Heavens Edge<\/strong>\u00a0entered the studio in the fall of 1989 and recorded their self-titled debut album with producer\u00a0<strong>Neil Kernon<\/strong>\u00a0(Dokken, Queensr\u00ffche, Judas Priest). Well received tracks like\u00a0<strong>\u201cSkin To Skin&#8221;<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>\u201cFind Another Way\u201d<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>\u201cPlay Dirty\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0were all included and in keeping with their reputation for exciting live shows, a live recording of the song\u00a0<strong>\u201cIs That All You Want\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0was added to the album. [This track was originally recorded during a live radio broadcast on the powerhouse local Philly FM rock station WMMR.] With album artwork and a music video for the first single\u00a0<strong>\u201cSkin To Skin\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0ready to go, Columbia Records released the album in the spring of 1990. The reviews were immediately favorable and the band hit the road with dates in Los Angeles, Boston, Baltimore, and many others.\u00a0<br \/><br \/><strong>Heavens Edge<\/strong>\u00a0was added to the\u00a0<strong>Ronnie James Dio\/Yngwie Malmsteen<\/strong>\u00a0tour, culminating with a seminal performance at The Spectrum in Philadelphia.<br \/><br \/>The next few years for Heavens Edge saw significant changes. The band was yet another victim of the well-documented shift in popular music tastes of the early &#8217;90s and made a label move from Columbia to Capitol Records, as well a guitarist change from\u00a0<strong>Steve Parry<\/strong>\u00a0to\u00a0<strong>Jimmy Marchiano<\/strong>, all of which led to uncertainty within the group. Live audiences still supported the band, but the industry at large seemed ready to move on from the entire culture that preceded the new era of baby-boomer-influenced dark rock music.<br \/><br \/>After some time seeking their place in a shrinking market, the band called it quits in 1993. Each of the band members pursued various music ventures.\u00a0<strong>Reggie<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>George<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>David<\/strong>\u00a0teamed up with vocalist\u00a0<strong>Shawn Carmen<\/strong>\u00a0and formed the band\u00a0<strong>American Pie<\/strong>.\u00a0<strong>Jimmy Marchiano<\/strong>\u00a0joined\u00a0<strong>Dean Davidson\u2019s (Britny Fox)<\/strong> new band\u00a0<strong>Black Eyed Suzan<\/strong>.\u00a0<strong>Steven<\/strong>\u00a0linked up with\u00a0<strong>Tangier<\/strong>\u00a0vocalist\u00a0<strong>Bill Mattson<\/strong>\u00a0to form\u00a0<strong>Mattson\/Parry<\/strong>.\u00a0<strong>Mark<\/strong>\u00a0played several solo acoustic shows in European markets and midwestern US cities. None of these ventures achieved the same level of success as\u00a0<strong>Heavens Edge<\/strong>.\u00a0<br \/><br \/>Though not formally together, the band inked a deal in 1998 with European label\u00a0<strong>MTM<\/strong>\u00a0and US label\u00a0<strong>Perris Records<\/strong>\u00a0and released demos and other rarities considered the band\u2019s second album\u00a0<strong>&#8216;Some Other Place, Some Other Time<\/strong>&#8216;. This album includes previously unreleased self-titled album B-sides\u00a0<strong>\u201cRock Steady Rock\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>\u201cJust Another Fire\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0along with songs\u00a0<strong>\u201cJacky\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>\u201cSome Other Place&#8221;<\/strong>, which were recorded as demos for\u00a0<strong>Capital Records<\/strong>.The next twenty years of activity for the band was not much more than the occasional benefit performance or appearance by an individual band member at various events.<br \/><br \/>This was all until 2013\u2019s official reunion show with the original line up at\u00a0<strong>Firefest<\/strong>\u00a0in Nottingham, UK. The event proved so successful that the guys continued the live show momentum with performances on\u00a0<strong>The Monsters Of Rock Cruise<\/strong>, the\u00a0<strong>Melodic Rock Festival<\/strong>\u00a0in Chicago, and main-stage sets at\u00a0<strong>M3<\/strong>\u00a0in the Baltimore, MD area.<br \/><br \/>They soon returned to their home market with sold-out headline shows at the legendary TLA, Trocadero, and World Caf\u00e9 Live.Then tragedy struck again with the diagnosis of lung cancer for\u00a0<strong>G.G.<\/strong>\u00a0in 2019. He sadly passed away in August of that same year. The band assumed they would never play as\u00a0<strong>Heavens Edge<\/strong>\u00a0again.It wasn\u2019t until bassist\u00a0<strong>Jaron Gulino<\/strong>\u00a0(Tantric, Mach 22) and\u00a0<strong>Mark Evans<\/strong>\u00a0became acquainted that the idea of continuing as\u00a0<strong>Heavens Edge<\/strong>\u00a0became a reality.\u00a0<strong>Jaron<\/strong>\u00a0rehearsed with the group and immediately locked in with the band. A live performance with the band on\u00a0<strong>The Monsters Of Rock Cruise<\/strong>\u00a0soon followed and\u00a0<strong>Heavens Edge<\/strong>\u00a0now officially had a new member in\u00a0<strong>Gulino<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>Now that the band was intact and the audiences were turning up, it was again time for the band to draw the attention of record companies.
