Already a sensation in Europe and the United Kingdom, Finland\u2019s biggest contemporary rock export adds \u201cworld domination\u201d to their \u201cto-do\u201d list with the captivating Exit Emotions<\/strong><\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Destined to enthrall pop-rock, hip-hop, and aggressive metal devotees in equal measure, Exit Emotions<\/em> is a brilliant follow-up to Lifestyles of the Sick & Dangerous,<\/em> the epic 2022 album Kerrang!<\/em> recommended to fans of Bring Me The Horizon, Linkin Park, and Hollywood Undead. Songs like \u201cFlatline<\/strong>,\u201d \u201cHappy Doomsday<\/strong>,\u201d and \u201cDeadzone<\/strong>\u201d reach beyond the confines of metalcore and alt-rock with a combination of huge pop hooks and crushing riffs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The band\u2019s incredible fifth LP is the culmination of a meteoric rise that began in Oulu in 2013.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n

Guitarist Joonas Porko, bassist Olli Matela, and drummer Tommi Lalli were just 15 when they started their first band together. Joel Hokka sang in a rival band and recognized the same crazy outcast passion in the other guys. They met Niko Moilanen, Blind Channel\u2019s co-vocalist, at a high school house party. The band released their debut album, Revolutions<\/em>, in 2016. Blood Brothers <\/em>arrived in 2018, followed by the breakthrough third LP, Violent Pop<\/em>, in 2020. Aleksi \u201cAlex Mattson\u201d Kaunisvesi, one of Scandinavia\u2019s most famous EDM DJs, joined the same year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDark Side<\/strong>\u201d amassed over 71 million streams on Spotify alone after being selected to represent Finland in 2021\u2019s Eurovision Song Contest. The track went to No. 1 on various European charts and No. 3 on the UK\u2019s Rock & Metal singles chart. \u201cDark Side<\/strong>\u201d won Best Song at the Emma Awards, Finland\u2019s version of the GRAMMYs, where Blind Channel swept all six categories they were nominated for in 2022, including Band of the Year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s a path not dissimilar to globe-conquering Italian rockers M\u00e5neskin, who rode European momentum to massive success. Blind Channel cut their teeth on Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, and Slipknot. Today, the six-piece outfit crafts its own unique postmodern hybrid metal sound from a wide range of influences, including the theatrical pomp of My Chemical Romance, the ambitious shred of Avenged Sevenfold, and the attitude of hip-hop and EDM. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exit Emotions<\/strong><\/em> is the \u201call-in\u201d album for Blind Channel. Coming on the heels of two years of touring for its predecessor, the fifth album\u2019s songs are built for the live show, where the kinetic connection between the band and their audience is palpable to all those in attendance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The band worked closely with longtime collaborator Joonas Parkkonen<\/strong> and producer\/songwriters Johnny Andrews<\/strong> (Three Days Grace, Motionless In White, In This Moment) and Dan Lancaster<\/strong> (Don Broco, Bring Me The Horizon, One OK Rock). Zakk Cervini<\/strong> (Blink-182, Machine Gun Kelly, Good Charlotte) handled mixing duties. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With lines like \u201ctrue love is made of hatred\u201d and \u201ceverybody has a death wish,\u201d the chaotic \u201cWHERE\u2019S THE EXIT<\/strong>\u201d sets the tone. Kickoff single \u201cDEADZONE<\/strong>\u201d immediately broke Blind Channel onto Billboard<\/em>\u2019s Mainstream Rock chart. \u201cDIE ANOTHER DAY<\/strong>\u201d mines the depths of hopelessness with a beautiful, melancholic guest contribution from English singer\/songwriter R\u00d8RY and Finnish cello legends Apocalyptica. \u201cONE LAST TIME<\/strong>,\u201d the album closer, treats romance as a bad habit, with a dark and spectacularly rousing chorus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
