There are few Metal singers today as Ronny Munroe. “Singer” not vocalist, because if you sing\/tour with TSO and can also steamroll as the former voice of Metal Church, you are a true-blue singer. Put Munroe together with the melodically fluid guitarist Chris Lorey, and you have Cave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Their new release opens with “Rat in a Hole,” one of heaviest tracks here. Catchy and pumping, it slithers its way into your mind, finding a home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Screaming for a Savior,” is painted with hues of Savatage. As you’ll hear throughout the release, the choruses are damn near perfect. These guys can write stellar spells.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Blinded” takes its foot off pedal, highlighting Munroes’ multi-faceted vocal prowess. The voice control and breathing technique amazes. Lorey dashes another intricate solo before turning into near neoclassic fever pitch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Newfound King” emits an undercurrent of majesty. It’s akin to a Dio composition, telling a story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They end the journey with “Deep Menagerie.” Again, instead of basically out front, Lorey lifts the song up from below. You have to pay attention to really catch all the musicianship. But you don’t have to since the choruses are so damn catchy anyway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Do yourself and your mind a favor by picking up Cave Out of the Cave.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
