Michael Schenkers Temple Of Rock On A Mission Live In MadridMichael Schenker continues to enthrall music fans with his extraordinary guitar virtuoso skills. From his beginnings with the Scorpions to UFO, MSG, Schenker has provided fans an impressive body of recorded works. With studios albums, live releases on audio and video and compilations, Schenker shows no signs of slowing down.

His latest band, dubbed Michael Schenker’s Temple of Rock, has three studio albums under its belt, Temple of Rock, Bridge the Gap and Spirit On A Mission. The group’s latest release is multi-format release – Blu-ray, DVD and CD of the live recording On A Mission: Live In Madrid.

The Temple of Rock band comprises ex-Scorpions drummer Hardman Rarebel and bassist Francis Buchholz, ex-Rainbow vocalist Doogie White, Wayne Findlay on guitar and keys and, of course, Michael Schenker.

The concert was captured on film and audio Nov. 19, 2015, at the Joy Eslava Theater in Madrid, Spain. The historic three-floor music theater exclusively was chosen by Schenker and his crew.

The set list spans Schenker’s career and tips its hat to Scorpions recordings that featured Rarebell and Buchholz. Those songs include music from 1979’s Love Drive album, “Love Drive” and “Coast to Coast,” which also featured Schenker, as well as “Blackout” and “Rock You Like A Hurricane.” Plenty of UFO and MSG staples from the ‘70s and early ‘80s, such as “Lights Out,” “Doctor Doctor,” “Horizons,” etc., are included, and new material from the Temple of Rock era are inserted throughout the set.

The DVD features rehearsal footage, the fanfare outside the theater and soundcheck. The Deluxe Collector’s edition, limited to 5,000 copies, contains the double CD and two Blu-rays and more bonus features, including Michael and his guitars and a booklet that includes unique and exclusive biographies, written by the musicians, themselves.

When it comes to Schenker and live concert recordings, you probably have a favorite. Schenker is very consistent during those recorded shows. On A Mission: Live In Madrid continues that streak and would be a fine addition to the Schenker audio/video arsenal.
