The Ultimate Guitar Experience featuring Uli Jon Roth with special guests Jennifer Batten and Andy Timmons made a special stop in Las Vegas at the Las Vegas County Saloon on March 9th. Guitar lovers were in for a special treat, as this bill features much diversity showcasing artists at the top of their game.
Jennifer Batten got the evening off to a great start with her skilled guitar riffs. Jennifer’s set was state of the art with a video screen depicting images that coincided with her set. Jennifer reminds me of Bonnie Raitt with her bluesy vibe. She is no stranger to the music business and has played with such greats as Jeff Beck. The highlight of her set was the song “Cat Fight.” A song written for her beloved cats.
Guitar Virtuoso Uli Jon Roth took the stage for a flawless set that spiraled his talent to a new level. It is always so exhilarating to watch Uli perform. He is touring in support of his latest release Scorpions Revisited. Highlights of the album’s release were “The Sails Of Charon” and “Sun In My Hand.” Las Vegas was the second night of the tour and Uli was in a great mood and ready to play despite early signs of a head cold.
Uli’s Signature guitar line was amazing. When I told him after the show his music just soared and was so uplifting. Uli commented, “This the way music is supposed to be played. The tour has been a lot of fun. It is great to be in Vegas.”
The highlight of the set included an All-Star Jam featuring Uli, Jennifer and Andy on “All Along The Watchtower.” This was the perfect song choice, as accents of Jimi Hendrix guitar style heavenly dominate his guitar style. I highly encourage everyone to check out this tour. The musicianship is outstanding. A fan in the audience yelled out, “Best Scorpions show ever.”
