Sons of Silver have returned with one of their most aggressive, and riff-infused tracks to date. The band is quickly becoming notorious for its powerful, impassioned songwriting and complex sound. The alt-rock fivesome continues on that path with their latest stimulating and thought-provoking song, “Hesitate,” currently available for download and streaming on all major digital platforms. Is “Hesitate” the palette cleanser between their politically charged Doomsday Noises EP and their upcoming new body of work on Ordinary Sex Appeal? The song continues to showcase the intricate and timely storytelling of the band, from the first note it starts out strong with an anthemic tone, as it begs for a revolution. The distorted guitar riff is catchy and lively as it is complimented over a similar beat. The song has a grunge tone to it, especially with the gritty and slightly raspy vocal performance. The song is a brilliant blend of aggression and melody. The guitar drives things forward strongly but not once does it ever come off too flashy or over the top.
Frontman Pete Argyropoulos (founder of Pete RG and Last December) writes and composes the band’s songs in collaboration with drummer Dave Krusen (Original Founding Member and Drummer For Pearl Jam), Bassist Adam Kury (Candlebox), Guitarist Kevin Haaland (Formerly of Skillet), and Keyboardist Brina Kabler.
Sons of Silver are rock n’ roll, they are loud, and they are honest, and the musicianship is first-rate. The songwriting sparks controversy while the band walks a fine line and relates and speaks to both sides of the aisle. It’s a conscious expression of pure rock taking on relevant societal issues without sacrificing the purity of great songwriting and musicianship.
