Today, SEVEN SPIRES shares “The Old Hurt of Being Left Behind,” the third single from their upcoming studio album ‘A Fortress Called Home‘ to be released June 21st via Frontiers Music Srl. The track is accompanied by a new music video, available below.

Frontwoman Adrienne Cowan had this to share about the track:

“This was the first song we wrote for ‘A Fortress Called Home.’ It grew from a poignant piano piece from my idea vault, and was rooted in the music and story of Edward Elgar’s ‘Sospiri, op. 70.’ It’s a piece that I often felt sounded like the pain of falling in love. And — I find there is something so fragile and quietly beautiful in the wrenching agony of truly baring one’s soul to another. Inspired by that juxtaposition, Jack and I brought our best to capture hope in pain, melody in chaos, and that softness in brutality. Basically, I think the title says it all.”

‘A Fortress Called Home’, SEVEN SPIRES’ fourth studio album is the highly-anticipated follow-up to ‘Gods of Debauchery’ (2021) and takes their signature blend of symphonic power and extreme metal to new heights, dragging the listener to the deepest abysses in the process.

Adrienne Cowan comments:

“I visited the void twice while writing this album. I don’t know which begat the other. It’s ugly. I love it and I hate it, and I think it’s our best work yet.”

‘A Fortress Called Home’ was produced, mixed, and mastered by Jack Kosto who had this to say about it:

“If our previous albums have intended to take you on an emotional journey of our design, this album forces you to confront the one of your own making. Good luck and enjoy!”

SEVEN SPIRES’ upcoming 2024 touring schedule includes a headline set at Mile High Power Fest in Denver, CO, in August, and their first-ever headlining Japanese tour with Lords of the Trident in December.

SEVEN SPIRES is an American symphonic metal band from Boston, MA. Since their inception in 2013 at Berklee College of Music, these best friends have forged their home in the darker corners of the melodic metal world with strikingly emotional filigree and relentless technical prowess. Known as much for their melancholic concept albums as their penchant for pushing genre limits, they draw influence from across the spectrum of metal and beyond, reaching ravenously into jazz, late Romantic-era orchestral music, cinematic soundscapes, and more.

SEVEN SPIRES’ touring history includes North America with Eluveitie and Omnium Gatherum in 2023, Europe with Twilight Force and Silver Bullet in 2023, as well as North America with DragonForce, Firewind, and Visions of Atlantis in 2022. They have also performed at prestigious metal festivals, such as 70000 Tons of Metal, Metaldays,ProgPower USA, and Mad With Power Fest, where they played a sold-out, nearly two-hour headline show in 2023.

Outside of SEVEN SPIRES, Adrienne Cowan tours the world singing with Avantasia and Sonic Symphony. Jack Kosto specializes in audio engineering, production, mixing, and mastering. Peter de Reyna works as an artist manager at his own De Reyna Management agency and also plays bass in prog outfit Ok Goodnight. ‘A Fortress Called Home’ features former drummer Chris Dovas’ final musical performance with SEVEN SPIRES.
