Sin City was turned into a glam rock scene from the ’80s on Hollywood Strip as Faster Pussycat invaded Vamp’d on Sahara Ave on June 3. The ’80s were known for no boundaries and good times, and tonight Faster Pussycat helped us relive that decadent era.
Taime Downe and Faster Pussycat hit the stage at the bewitching midnight hour, and unleashed their vibrant blend of punk/sleaze rock on the audience at Vamp’d. Dressed in black leather, and donning a black leather cap, Taime and the band opened with their hit,” Bathroom Wall.” You have to appreciate the decor at Vamp’d, as the walls are all black, and the persona of the club totally blended with his hard rock cult audience. Taime proceeded to pose and puff on his cigarette looking rather cool.
From punk to rock to just good time rock and roll, Faster Pussycat performed “Cat House,” and “Number One With A Bullet” in which Taime commented was one of his favorite songs that he had ever written and was happy to be performing in Sin City tonight.
Highlight of the evening was when Taime sat on the front of the stage took off his hat and sang,” House Of Pain.” The sing along was fantastic. Everyone was having a great time. Other highlights included, ”Nonstop To Nowhere.” Also I have to mention, new guitar addition Ace Von Johnson did a dynamic job of really performing the hits with much conviction. Ace has a punk rock style that fits well with the band.
What would a night of Faster Pussycat be in Sin City without Porn Stars? Well the band that rarely performs encores saved the best for last performing “Porn Star” for all the girls in the audience! It has been many years since I have seen Faster Pussycat perform and Taime and company sounded great tonight. Vamp’d is one of the best clubs in Vegas to see ’80s bands perform.
