Stickam and Loud Present: Japan Relief Benefit Concert
Devastating natural disasters happen all the time. When the worse hit, musicians are always there to help. Los Angeles based Israeli band Abused Romance is one to oblige. Headlining a charity concert May 27, with all the proceeds going to Japan’s Earthquake relief efforts, the alternative hard rockers (that include singer Meir Yaniv, guitarist Amit Ofir, bassist Aetam Jakob, and drummer Roy Chen) ignited The Roxy in West Hollywood, Calif. with electrifying talent.
Beginning a fast-paced set with great force and keeping that same energy song after song, the quartet resembled an Aurora Sky meets Shinedown. The ingenuity that lead singer Meir delivered with such intensity left a memorable cloud. The audience quickly caught onto every power chord, distortion, and bashing drums. The stage presence between Aetam and Amit was intriguing with every strum. For a good cause, the audience was surely satisfied.
The songs performed are featured on Abused Romance new album, Shine — which can also be downloaded for free on their MySpace page. Their Overcome album has reached #41 on Billboard’s chart and Abused Romance will be hitting the road this summer with Egypt Central. For anyone interested in a new power-chord driven band, Abused Romance is one not to miss.
