Rose Tattoo Blood Brothers (Tour Edition)

Australia’s other beloved long-running, hard-rocking band Rose Tattoo came brawling back in 2007 with Blood Brothers, their eleventh studio album overall and first since the death of founding bassist Pete Wells.
Blood Brothers doesn’t really offer any surprises, but then again, most people aren’t buying a Rose Tattoo album expecting to hear something progressive or cutting edge. You buy a Rose Tattoo album because it’s predictable. You’re guaranteed a bloody, sweaty, hard rocking good time, and you’re never disappointed. Angry Anderson and the rest of these tattooed warriors slog their way through eleven new odes to sex (“Sweet Meat” and the hysterical “Lubricated”), hard living (“Nothing to Lose”, “Black Eyed Bruiser”) and even history (the surprisingly moving “1854”, which is based on the Eureka Stockade Rebellion). This is down n’ dirty rock & roll in the best possible sense of the term.
Blood Brothers was a worthwhile purchase by itself, but the Special Tour Edition is an even better buy. It comes with a bonus DVD that features the band’s performance at the Wacken festival in 2006. The band rocks through 13 songs, both old and new, including a tribute to Pete Wells. There is also a “Tatt TV” interview included as bonus material. It’s a high quality DVD, and could stand on it’s own as a separate release.
If you bought Blood Brothers the first time around, you should definitely give some thought to picking up the Special Tour Edition. If you haven’t yet heard the album, this is obviously the best version to get.
