Thin Lizzy Still Dangerous Live …
by John Kindred

Straight from the Thin Lizzy vaults comes the lost and newly discovered live concert performance of the band circa ’77. Still Dangerous Live At The Tower Theatre Philadelphia 1977 features the lineup of Phil Lynott (v)(b), Scott Gorham (g), Brian Robertson (g) and Brian Downey (d).
The 10-track CD release is considered a companion release to the original ’78 live album Live And Dangerous and showcases two songs, “Soldier Of Fortune” and “Opium Trail,” which were not found on the ’78 live album. Remixed and remastered by legendary producer Glyn Johns (Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones) the CD is time capsule of a band at the height of their career and popularity.
Originally recorded during the King Biscuit tour for a radio show in Philadelphia, the audio recording landed in a box on a shelf and was discovered as engineers were cataloging the bands archived audio recordings. The band can be heard road testing songs prior to the release of Bad Reputation.
Classic Lizzy songs “Jailbreak,” “The Boys Are Back In Town,” and the “Cowboy Song,” showcase the bands dynamic lead guitar melodies, Lynott’s smooth vocal delivery and the groups unique pop-rock sound. Driven by Lynott’s crafty song writing and lyrical explorations the band delivers a steady dose of rock. The overall mix of the album is handled superbly by Johns. But you can’t escape the dated ’70 era rock sound.
Still Dangerous Live At The Tower Theatre Philadelphia 1977 is certain to perk the interest of Lizzy fans looking to regain a touch of their glory years, who just can’t swallow the current touring tribute Lizzy lineup lead by Lizzy alumni John Sykes and Scott Gorham.
