Razor of Occam Homage to Martyrs

Razor of Occam are a metal band based in London, England who bring much of the spirit of their native Southern Australia within their kick ass mix. Their third full-length offering is entitled Homage to Martyrs and has 8 cuts lasting a monstrous 33 minutes.
The music is top shelf traditional modern metal that slightly leans toward a melodic death realm. Their style is clean and best resembles bands like Hatesphere or The Haunting.
Very well sung extreme metal vocals Matt Schneemilch (name means snow-milk in German) resonate through the speakers with a wicked even quality throughout.
The band is guitar heavy with Matt Schneemilch and Ian Gray ripping though cool aggressive riffs, entertaining melodies and vicious solo work on virtually every track.
The eight tracks have little to no pretension and the band doesn’t try and take itself too seriously. In fact their website states it best. “The lyrics eschew the mystical nonsense typical of the genre and instead highlight the harsh reality of the godless, uncaring and awe-inspiring universe we inhabit.” What a refreshing take on creating a metal record.
This CD sees a level, consistent and cohesive effort that has no main err, but a small argument could be made that the record can be a tad bit repetitive.
Regardless, the metal is thoroughly sick so this release is highly recommended for purchase.
