March 1 , 2018 at Symphony Hall in Birmingham, U.K. —

May 10, 1996 was the date when Finnish rockers Apocalyptica released its debut album Plays Metallica By Four Cellos. Little did they know that over 20 years later they will be touring the world with plenty of sold out shows and have a very dedicated fan following across the globe.

Apocalyptica couldn’t have picked a worse night to play in Birmingham. In some other county wouldn’t be a big deal, but for Britain “The Beast from The East” that brings a few centimeters of snow and Celsius degrees in the minus, is a natural disaster and left many fans not able to get to the venue.

Eicca was laughing that Finns in this weather still would go swimming in lakes. “Maybe sometimes a bit too much” he added pointing out to Paavo’s brace covered leg.

But the poor attendance at least gave guys plenty of room for interaction with their fans, even more than they normally would do. Perttu did joke, that the ones who have attended the concert must be the only ones in Birmingham to own winter tires.

With plenty of European tour dates left to go followed by the North American leg of the tour and the festival season, these Finnish cello metallers will continue to mesmerize fans with their version of the contemporary and classical mix.
