SIOUX FALLS, S.D. and SARANAC LAKE, NY — Formerly only available on Amazon—in both Kindle and paperback versions—the backwoods survival horror novel Gristle will soon be found at major retailers and public libraries around the world. Apple Books, Barnes & Noble, thousands of libraries in North and South America as well as in Europe will have the e-book version of Gristle available, opening up Allen and Miller’s novel to a brand new global audience.
Gristle is the story of a father seeking redemption after failing his son in the worst way possible. As the father turns to alcohol and the son to crime, they receive an opportunity to heal their emotional scars on a deer-hunting trip deep in the woods of the Adirondack Mountains. Instead of finding closure, they find themselves with the tables turned as the hunters become the prey for a family of cannibals more grotesque and evil than their worst nightmares could ever fathom.
“When we started writing Gristle, our main goal was to merge the no-holds-barred violence survival-horror is known for with an emotional depth rarely seen in the genre,” said Allen. “Brutality without an emotional component is nothing more than bargain-basement ‘torture porn.’ We were aiming for something deeper, for drama to go along with all the death and destruction. Whether or not we pulled that off is for readers to decide, but New Ebook Library believes we did, and we are very appreciative of their support.”
Allen and Miller have also teamed up to write the splatterpunk heavy metal horror novella Mudslingers and an anthology of short stories called Chunks of Hell. They are currently developing a werewolf novel tentatively titled Cycle of Savagery. Gristle is their most popular and best seller, though, and by signing with New Ebook Library, the novel has new life.
“I knew the moment Mark and I finished Gristle that it had legs that should stretch far and wide,” said Miller. “And it did, but with it available solely on Amazon, we knew we were missing out. With horror as popular as the genre has ever been, we know Gristle would make for a gripping movie as well. Thanks to New Ebook Library for believing in Gristle and putting it in front of people who haven’t had the avenue or opportunity to read it yet.”
Gristle will be available as one of New Ebook Library’s newest horror releases on April 18, 2019. The publisher focuses on creating pulp style books in the arenas of Crime, Horror, Romance, Adventure, Science Fiction, and Westerns, as they put it, “The way books used to be.” Head over to www.nelibrary.com to check out all of their new releases, and be sure to pick up Gristle while you are there.
