FROM THEIR FORTHCOMING NEW EP ORDINARY SEX APPEAL
PAYING HOMAGE TO THE BAND WITH THEIR VERSION OF “LIFE IS A CARNIVAL” VIDEO OUT NOW IN CELEBRATION OF THE “CAHOOTS” 50TH ANNIVERSARY BOX SET
Sons of Silver is set to release their new song and video for “Who’s Gonna Stop Us” on February 4, from their upcoming new EP Ordinary Sex Appeal due out later in the year.
When asked about the song frontman Pete Argyropoulos said, “Who’s Gonna Stop Us” is like a comet that suddenly appears in a midnight sky, leaving you to ask, Where did that come from? The band was jamming in the studio, working up some new songs. We were laboring on something slow. I sensed our energy dipping. There was a lull and started playing something fast to pick us up. That “something” I started playing became the intro riff to the song and launched us in a fresh direction. If I recall correctly, it took us all of 20-minutes to sort out the arrangement and record a solid take. We’d peaked for the day and left it to simmer. It was August of 2020. I had a lot of out-of-control, nefarious, social-political characters in the headlines to draw from and, frankly, poke fun at. So, back to recording we went with some added inspiration.”
Originally released in 1971 as the fourth studio album from The Band Cahoots came with anticipation and is now being revisited to commemorate its 50th anniversary. To help celebrate the anniversary Sons of Silver has released their version of the funky “Life Is a Carnival,” written by Rick Danko, Levon Helm, and Robbie Robertson. The video for the song collectively racked up over 125k views between YouTube and Facebook in the first few weeks of its release.
Just hours after Sons of Silver released the video for their version of the song Robbie Robertson (lead guitarist and songwriter for The Band) commented, “Well done!”. Watch it here- https://youtu.be/kPAD6-o0ZDI.
“We’re big fans of The Band. Not only have they influenced us, directly, they’ve also been a major influence on many of our other heroes. Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, and Neil Young; the list could go on and on. We wanted to pay a humble tribute on the 50th anniversary of Cahoots with our cover of Life Is A Carnival. We had a great time recording it. We could’ve jammed on this groove for a week, a testament to a great song. So much fun. We might have to borrow or steal from it for one of our own songs!” — says frontman Argyropoulos.
A tried-and-true rock n’ roll band, they plug in and unlock a flood of emotions energized by unbridled guitars, fluid percussion, and a distinct vocal howl. In 2020 Sons of Silver unleashed the aptly titled Doomsday Noises to widespread critical acclaim. American Songwriter deemed the band a “Supergroup,” along with praise from Consequence of Sound and Paste Magazine. The songs from Doomsday Noises have amassed over five million views on YouTube and over 200k streams, and three out of the five tracks on the EP garnered spots on Billboard Active Rock Chart. The band’s recently released song and video for “Hesitate,” has already racked up over 410k views on YouTube. “Hesitate” displays the rock harmonies and complex storytelling of the Los Angeles based quintet, striking a balance between intensity and verve while complimented by the backbeat of their hard-hitting and groove-infested style.
