Framing Hanley is a hard rock band that hails from Nashville, Tenn. They have a cutting edge sound that is currently taking Fuse by storm with their recent hit “Lollipop,” a Lil Wayne cover that in the past month rotates from Number One to Number Three on Fuse Television.
“Hear Me Now” is the latest single off of The Moment. Bassist Luke McDuffee has checked in with Hardrock Haven to discuss the bands recent success and album The Moment.
HRH: Framing Hanley has a new single “Lollipop” that has been rotating from Number One to Number Three on Fuse. How does this success make you feel?
LUKE: It is an awesome feeling. I never really new it would go that far. All of a sudden we are Number One on the countdown. It is really cool.
HRH: Tell us a little bit about the video.
LUKE: It was pretty much three days of drunken madness. The director came in with an idea and it was pretty much a part for three days. It was a good time.
HRH: Also, I heard that “Hear Me Know” is going to be the next video and single. Tell us a little bit about this video.
LUKE: I can’t really give out to many details but it is going to be a really good video. It should be released a little bit later this month. It was done by the same director and writer who did our last video so it is going to be good.
HRH: What was it like working with producer Brett Hesla?
LUKE: He is awesome. He is kind of the person who got us in the business. He heard some of our demos on MySpace when we were first getting started as a local band. We went down and recorded a couple of songs with him and that took us off from there. He is almost like the sixth member of the band. He is a really good friend of all of us.
HRH: Tell us a little bit about the writing process for The Moment?
LUKE: Usually it starts off somebody will come up with an idea like hey I got this guitar line or hey I got this drum line. Then everybody will just sort of field off of that. Everybody writes their own parts, it is a jam kind of thing.
HRH: The band is currently on the road. How is the tour going so far?
LUKE: The beginning of June, we are going to take a little break. We are pretty much filled up for June and end of July. We are playing Rock On The Range.
HRH: What can the fans expect to see from a live Framing Hanley show?
LUKE: The album but better. We try to make our live show even better than anything that you have heard on the record.
HRH: Framing Hanley hails from Nashville. What is the music scene like down there these days?
LUKE: Of course there is a lot of country and blues. It is an historical city for that. It is definitely a rock scene. Red came out of Nashville, a band called Safety Suit that we are all big fans of came out of Nashville. They are really good and Paramore of course. There is a rock scene. It is still kind of new. It is a really good scene and it is definitely trying to produce some really good bands. We are doing a run with red very soon.
HRH: How did you come up with the name Framing Hanley?
LUKE: Ashley Hanley was our drummer’s fiancée’ and she was killed in a car accident of October of 06. She did a lot for the band. She was really close to everybody. She was a big supporter of us. So we thought the least we could do is name the band after her. The Framing aspect is, she used to shoot a lot of pictures for the band so it is more like photography framing.
HRH: Don’t miss Framing Hanley on tour this summer.
