February 25, 2013 at Roxy Theater in Los Angeles, CA —
Hollywood-based rock band Stitched Up Heart, formed in 2010, is led by vocalist Alecia “Mixi” Demner, winner of Fuse’s reality TV show Redemption Song. The band rocked Metal Mondays at the Roxy Theater on Feb. 25, and with a magnetic presence, the crowd went from lurking at the bar to being instantaneously pulled towards the stage.
Opening with a spunky energy, the song “Abducted” elicited screams from happy fans and interested onlookers. Guitarist Grant gave us some impressive riffs and hair flipping action accompanied by wild drum beats from Decker and bass from Derek. Each song was truly an act of its own.
Blue-haired vocalist Mixi has a unique way of getting the crowd involved in the performance. From constant reaching into the audience, to even pulling half the theater up on stage with her for “Grave”, the line between viewer and performer was blurred, and for good reason. Their nearly 17k fans on Facebook prove that this band definitely has something special up their sleeve.
Whether you’re a fan of the music or not, one must be utterly rhythm-less to not want to move around with the melodies or engage in the excitement built around the performance. The band comprises of members that love what they do, and that affection towards music is immanent, which will keep people coming back for more.
Stitched Up Heart is currently embarking on a tour to support the release of a new e.p. You can check out the 2013 dates at www.facebook.com/StitchedUpHeartRock.
