GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERAWarrant made a triumphant return to Las Vegas to perform at Vinyl on December 7th. Without a doubt, metal fans could not get enough of the ‘80s hits that the band performed tonight. It was nice to see a nice turnout for the band on a Sunday night. Proving that ‘80s metal still rules in the city of glitz and glamour.

Warrant hit the stage at 10:45 p.m. for a nostalgic set filled with many of the bands greatest hits. Warrant is comprised of Robert Mason on vocals, Erik Turner on guitar, Jerry Dixon on bass, Steven Sweet on drums and Joey Allen on guitar. The band kicked the set off with “Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich.” “The Down Boys” followed, and then kicked into high gear with “Sometimes She Cries.”

It has been great seeing the band evolve since my Boston Channel days. Singer Robert Mason is doing a great job as lead vocalist. The band is comprised of top-notch musicians who still sell out venues today. One of the highlights of the set was the dueling guitars of Erik Turner and Joey Allen on the song “So Damn Pretty.” The band released Rockaholic a few years back and performed a new song off of the album called “Sex Ain’t Love.” Warrant doesn’t rely on their past laurels and are always writing new material keeping the band new and fresh.

During the heyday of metal, Warrant ruled the MTV video charts with their power ballads. Highlight of the set had to be the melodic “I Saw Red” and “Heaven.” Those songs were two of my favorite ballads during the heyday and they still sound so good today. Warrant ended the set with one of their biggest hits “Cherry Pie.”

For 60 minutes, Warrant turned back the hands of time for a great night of hits that have survived the test of time.

  1. Short set list. “Rockaholic” is such a great album, I wish they would put out some more new music.
