The last time Within Temptation performed across North America was seven years ago and last year Amaranthe headlined their first North America tour. Tonight was the second show of their North American tour to a packed venue. Tonight’s show from WT had a humorous moment at the beginning for the show, after a short intro of a dragon movie then the piano player’s intro though the rest of the band were not ready to come on to the stage. And they re-started the beginning of the show and just kept going with total of 17 songs that included three encores.
The first song from their new album What About US with the vocal track with Tarja. Other songs from the new album that have vocal tracks are: “Dangerous” with Howard Jones and “An We Run” with Xzibit on the video screen. They wanted to perform those songs as they are on the album. The other songs performed were “Lana Del Rey’s,” “Summetime Sadness,” “Faster, “Let Us Burn,” “In The Middle Of The Night,” “Our Solemn Hour,” “What Have Done,” “Mother Earth,” an acoustic version of “Sinead” and the last song of the night was “Ice Queen.”
Opening the show is Amaranthe with their sound that mixes hard rock with electronic or techno dance arrangements. They performed songs from their new album due out Oct. 21. Those were “Drop Dead Cynical,” “Digital World,” and “Massive Addictive.” Other songs performed included: “Amaranthine,” “Hunger,” “Invincible” and “Afterlife.”
Overall, Within Temptation fans have been waiting many years for them to return to North America and they didn’t disappoint and hope they keep coming back often with their quality music and to keep recording it. And Amaranthe held their own. They will be headlining shows starting at the end of October.
