Michael Schenker’s Temple of Rock made a special stop in Las Vegas at Vamp’d on April 7. The band is currently on tour in support of their latest release Spirit On A Mission. The band hit the stage at 10:30 p.m. for an explosive set of rock that spanned the guitar virtuoso’s extensive career. Opening with “Love Drive” then launching into “Lights Out,” Michael and company were ready to tear off the roof.
All eyes were on the fast fingers pyrotechnic guitar riffs that exploded from Michael Schenker’s flying V. Singer Doogie White has an amazing vocal range that meshes so well with distinctive Schenker guitar sound. It takes an amazing singer to keep up with Michael, and Doogie gets the job done well. The singer commented that there were 3 live Scorpions in the house. Referring to bassist Francis Buchholz, drummer Herman Rarebell, and Michael Schenker. Wayne Findlay was on keyboards and guitar. So it was only fitting that the band played some Scorpion tunes.
Michael Schenker’s Temple of Rock also performed a new song “Vigilante Man” from their latest release from Spirit On A Mission. The song has that special Scorpion touch.
Other highlights included “Only You Can Rock Me” and the haunting “Before The Devil Knows You’re Dead.” Which Doogie commented was written for Ronnie James Dio and was the first song that the band had written together.
The encores were fast and furious including “Rock You Like A Hurricane” and “Rock Bottom.” Michael Schenker’s Temple Of Rock has a huge arena sound. It was so exhilarating watching this guitar virtuoso-shredding hit after hit. Be sure to catch the band on tour!
