In Concert: Disturbed

Los Angeles started 2019 off with a bang when Disturbed, along with Three Days Grace, made a stop at The Forum on Friday, January 11. The band kicked off their Evolution tour in San Diego on January 10th in support of their newest album by the same name. Disturbed is still going strong after 25 years in the music industry, and Evolution proves they have no plans to slow down.

The Forum was packed with fans, and Three Days Grace was a superb choice to warm up the crowd. Although a seemingly odd pairing for Disturbed, it was obvious the audience thoroughly enjoyed their set. They ripped through favorites such as “The Mountain,” “The Good Life,” and “I Hate Everything About You” with boundless energy.

The arena went dark, and the anticipation for Disturbed’s arrival on stage peaked at an all-time high. A video was displayed on a screen that stretched from one end of the stage to another, depicting images of the band and their live show; a taste of what was to come. The phrases in the video included “When music is the weapon, you must believe in the cause,” and “When music is the weapon, every fist has a voice.” The message was a simple one: music unites. After a five minute intro, the band hit the stage and dove into their first song, “Are You Ready?” from the new album. The audience exploded into a sea of energy, their hands, and fists high in the air. Disturbed played new material, along with fan favorites including “Stupify,” “Indestructible,” and closed the show with their mega-hit “Down With The Sickness.” Over two decades in the Metal scene have not slowed Disturbed down, as they still put on a hell of a show.
