What I witnessed at the Uriah Heep concert was nothing short of epic Rock ‘n’ Roll!
The band is currently on tour with Judas Priest but made a headlining stop at Knuckleheads in Kansas City Missouri.
Formed in 1969, one would think they would be going thru the motions and ready to retire like other bands of the era going on farewell tours. Not this band, they played with intensity, and you could tell the guys were really enjoying themselves.
Founding member Mick Box seemed to bless the crowd with his guitar licks and hand movements, keyboardist Phil Lanzon and lead singer Bernie Shaw both who joined Heep in 1986, were out to prove to the KC crowd just how damn good this band is.
The heartbeat of the band, drummer Russel Gilbrook and bassist Davey Rimmer never missed a beat, their style was spellbinding. And every note was felt in the soul of the audience.
The band performed “The Wizard,” “Waters Flowin’” and “Livin the Dream,” certainly the band is definitely doing that, living the dream. The show was in your face Rock ‘n’ Roll, featuring pure guitar, and B3 driving Rock ‘n’ Roll.
Closing out the set with fan favorites “Easy Livin and Stealin” was spectacular, young bands starting out could learn a lot from timeless music like this.
